To provide a low-priced reflector that improves the life and reliability of a light source unit and that can be cooled without forcible cooling by lowering the circumferential temperature of a light source lamp and a manufacturing method thereof.
The reflector is equipped with a reflector base 1 in a nearly hemispherical shell shape which is formed of aluminum or graphite with superior heat conductivity; and a visible light reflecting surface in the reflector base 1 is provided with a ceramic coating 3 and a multiple interference film 4 is vapor-deposited on the surface of the ceramic coating 3 while a plurality of heat radiation fins 5 are formed in one body on an external surface which is counter to the visible light reflecting surface of the reflector base 1. Then the reflector base 1 is a dichroic reflection mirror which reflects visible light of light and transmits infrared radiation by the multiple interference film 4.
