Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability of reformer combustion monitoring a lower loaded reformer of fused carbonate fuel cell.
SOLUTION: The reformer comprises a combustion catalysis by which nearly a constant amount of fused carbonate type of fuel cell anode discharge gas is made to burn regardless of a load on the fuel cell, a burner for burning reminder of the fused carbonate type of fuel cell anode discharge gas by adding discharge gas of the combustion catalysis to it, using steam reforming reaction as a heat source, and supplying carbonate gas to the cathode of ht fused carbonate type of fuel cell, and means for detecting ultraviolet by from the burner to monitor the combustion of the burner. An infrared detector is provided to monitor the combustion of the burner by detecting infrared ray from the burner. When signals are not input from both detecting means it judges that a misfire occurs, whereby the operation of the reformer is stopped.
