To provide a reforming catalyst composition producing high-concentration hydrogen with a low S/C ratio in steam reforming of hydrocarbons equivalent to naphtha or kerosene and retaining the activity for a long period.
The reforming catalyst composition contains nickel oxide and lanthanum oxide as a catalyst for production of a hydrogen-containing gas by the reaction of steam with hydrocarbons equivalent to naphtha or kerosene, and part or the whole of the composition has a perovskite type structure. A carrier made by forming the composition having the perovskite structure on oxide such as alumina, silica and zirconia can be used, and the composition having the perovskite type structure can be used as a carrier, and nickel or ruthenium is carried on the carrier.
