Title:
REFRACTORY FOR ASH MELTING FURNACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10324559
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To eliminate the defective application due to field casting and to obtain a refractory by which an ash melting furnace is stably operated for a long time and excellent in slag infiltration resistance by lining the side wall of the ash melting furnace with a precast block consisting of zirconia and alumina respectively in a specified amt.

A cupped precast block consisting of 5-90 wt.% zirconia and 5-90 wt.% alumina is produced and used in lining the side wall of an ash melting furnace. Zirconia is highly resistant to molten slag and prevents the slag from infiltrating into the refractory. The precast block contg. ≤90% zirconia is lowly resistant to heat and spalling and easily cracked by the heating in the initial stage of use. Alumina functions as a sintering material to develop medium and high-temp. strength. Accordingly, the erosion and abrasion of the bond as seen in the conventional refractory are reduced.
