PURPOSE: To obtain a refractory lining with which repairing. furnace building works are easy and which has excellent safety and corrosion resistance by composing it of an inner layer previously molded from a plastic refractory material, and an outer layer made of powder refractory material surrounding the outside of the inner layer.
CONSTITUTION: A refractory lining 11 has a 2-layer structure of an inner layer 14 and an outer layer 15, and an iron vessel 16 is provided at the inside. The layer 15 contains an inner layer 14 in an outer frame 12 filled with powder refractory material in a predetermined thickness, and the material is solidified to be filled densely by tamping in the peripheral space of the layer 14. When an ingot 10 is introduced in the vessel 16 and induction heated by a heating coil 13, the ingot 10 and the vessel 16 generate heat to melt it. The lining 11 is sintered progressively from the inside, molten material is brought into direct contact with the layer 14, slug is floated on the molten material to continuously rub the surface of the layer 14. However, since the layer 14 is formed of plastic refractory material, it has excellent corrosion resistance, and long life of the lining 11.
