To solve the problem that, if a three-phase power source has an open phase, a control device of a conventional air conditioner operates an outdoor unit controller by first and second phase power lines of the three-phase power source, and operates an indoor unit by the second and third phase power lines of the power source, and hence the air conditioner cannot be operated at all.
In an air conditioner having an outdoor unit and an indoor unit connected to a three-phase power source, first phase and second phase power lines of a first phase, a second phase and a third phase of the three-phase power source are connected to the controller of the indoor unit, and the first and second phase power lines are connected to the controller of the outdoor unit, the first phase, the second phase and the third phase power lines are connected to a circuit for driving a compressor of the outdoor unit, and a current detector is provided in the third phase power line. Accordingly, even if the third phase power line is opened, the air conditioner can be operated.
