This refrigerating device is provided with a compressor 1 compressing gas, a cooler 3 cooling the compressed gas, and expansion machine 2 expanding the cooled air, and is provided with a gas cycle type cooling mechanism A provided with a first pipe 5 having sensible heat of cooling gas of which temperature is dropped by expansion as a cooling and heating source and a vapor compression type cooling mechanism B provided with a second pipe 6 compressing, condensing and expanding coolant gas and having latent heat of vaporization of coolant as a cooling and heating source, and cools a matter W to be cooled with selectively using the cooling and heating source generated by the gas cycle type cooling mechanism A and the cooling and heating source generated by the vapor compression type cooling mechanism B.
