To use the heat generated by compression work in an effective manner, while cooling a refrigerant in the compression stroke of a compression mechanism, even in a refrigerant-circulating state that required heating capacity, in a refrigerating device that includes a refrigerant circuit capable of changing over the circulating direction of the refrigerant.
An air conditioner 1, having the refrigerant circuit 10 capable of changing over the circulating direction of the refrigerant by a refrigerant circulating direction switching valve 23, includes a heating medium circuit 11 which includes: a first heating medium cooler 42 for cooling a heating medium, separated from the refrigerant circuit 10 by a cooling source which is not caused by the refrigerant circuit 10; a second heating medium cooler 43 for cooling the heating medium by a cooling source arising from the refrigerant circuit 10; a heating medium cooler switching valve 44 for switching the first heating medium cooler 42 and the second heating medium cooler 43; and a compression mechanism cooler 48 for cooling the refrigerant which is made to flow in a compressor 21 by the heating medium, cooled by the first heating medium cooler 42 or the second heating medium cooler 43.
