This refrigerating device includes a refrigerant circuit (11) in which a compressor (20) and the expander (30) are connected to execute a refrigerating cycle. The compressor (20) discharges a compressed refrigerant into a compressor casing (24) in which a refrigerating machine oil is stored. An oil supply pipe (41) is disposed to allow a lubricant in the compressor casing (24) to flow to an expanding mechanism (31) by pressure difference generated between the inside of the compressor casing (24) and the inside of the expanding mechanism (31) of the expander (30). In starting an operation, only the compressor (20) is started first, and then stopped after the lapse of a prescribed time. When the difference in pressure in the refrigerant circuit (11) becomes almost zero, the compressor (20) and the expander (30) are simultaneously started.
