To solve the problem of the conventional refrigeration air conditioner in which a compressor and an expansion machine are coaxially connected to each other to recover the power of the expansion machine, wherein the cooling operation and the heating operation are different in the density ratio, which is the ratio of expansion machine inflow refrigerant density to the compressor inflow refrigerant density, resulting in lowering of power recovery amount.
In this refrigeration air conditioner, an internal heat exchanger is provided to change an inflow refrigerant density at an expansion machine inlet corresponding to the operating condition by the heat exchange amount control of the internal heat exchanger, whereby even if the operating condition changes, a gap in the density ratio, which is the ratio of the expansion machine inflow refrigerant density to the compressor inflow refrigerant density, is reduced so that lowering of power recovery amount in the expansion machine is prevented to achieve high efficiency.
