Abstract:
PURPOSE: To ensure sufficient safety protection upon failure of a low pressure switch by interrupting operation of an inverter circuit when the low pressure of a refrigeration cycle drops abnormally below a set level with no action of a low pressure switch. CONSTITUTION: When the low pressure drops abnormally, a low pressure switch 8 opens to interrupt the conduction path to an inverter circuit 21. Consequently, operation of a compressor 1 is interrupted and abnormal drop of low pressure is suppressed thus protecting refrigeration cycle apparatus. The low pressure switch 8 is kept open except when it is operated manually to sustain interrupted state of the compressor 1. Upon failure of the low pressure switch 8, operation of the compressor 1 is sustained regardless of abnormal drop of low pressure. When the pressure Ps detected by a pressure sensor 10 drops below a set level Px due to progress of low pressure drop, a control section 23 interrupts operation of the inverter circuit 21. More specifically, operation of the compressor 1 is interrupted and further drop of low pressure is suppressed.
