This refrigerator provided with a main body formed with a refrigerating chamber and the freezing chamber, a refrigerating chamber evaporator and a freezing chamber evaporator provided to correspond to the refrigerating chamber and the freezing chamber, and a compressor for compressing a refrigerant supplied to the refrigerating chamber and the freezing chamber, is provided with a refrigerating chamber fan and a freezing chamber fan provided to supply cold air to the refrigerating chamber and the freezing chamber, an outside air temperature sensor for detecting an outside air temperature, a multidirectional valve provided to supply the refrigerant to at least one out of the refrigerating chamber and the freezing chamber, and a control part for operating the compressor and the multidirectional valve, and for driving the refrigerating chamber fan and the freezing chamber fan until temperatures of the refrigerating chamber and the freezing chamber reach a prescribed reference temperature.
