PURPOSE: To successively obtain highly clear ice by providing a cover disposed on an ice making dish freely to open and close and including a heater on the side of the ice making dish on a cooling plate disposed below the ice making dish freely to go and back and forth, and synchronizing rotation of the ice making dish with opening and closing of the cover.
CONSTITUTION: Water in a water supply bottle 4 enters an ice making dish 11 from a water supply piping 7 after passing through a water storage tank 5 and a water supply pump 6. The ice making dish 11 is heated from its upper portion by a cover 12 on which a heater 19 is disposed, and cooled from its lower portion by a lower cooling plate 16. Water is frozen from the upper portion with long freezing time because of its being heated from the upper portion. Impurities in tap water which causes the ice to be cloudy such as varieties of soluble salts, and solvent gas, etc., are concentrated and separated at the final stage of the ice making. Thereupon, freezing is done uniformly because of its long freezing time and hence gases and bubbles are uniformly separated to yield highly transparent ice. Once the ice is formed, the cover 12 is opened by a motor and a drive gear in a driving box 9, and the ice making dish 11 is reversed. The ice making dish 11 is reversed. The ice making dish 11 is subject to twisting by a stopper to drop the ice into an ice storage box 10.
