The refrigerator is composed by cooling a storage chamber composed in a heat insulation box body to a set temperature, and it is composed such that the power saving mode is carried out by a power saving switch 61, a loaded condition of each storage chamber during the power saving mode is accurately grasped by a refrigeration chamber temperature sensor 55 and a freezing chamber temperature sensor 54, and the power saving mode is canceled when the loaded condition is high. By this, deterioration of food freshness retainment in each storage chamber is suppressed, and an energy saving effect by the power saving mode can be enhanced by returning to the power saving mode again if each storage chamber is cooled to the set temperature after shifting to normal cooling.
