To provide a refrigerator capable of performing cooling corresponding to the storage state of a stored material in the refrigerator.
The refrigerator includes: a light sources 20a disposed on an inner part of storage chamber; an optical sensor 21 which detects irradiation light emitted from the light sources 20a; and a calculation control part which performs calculation processing on the basis of the detection result of the optical sensor 21. The optical sensor 21 is disposed at the heat insulation door side from the center in the depth direction of the storage chamber, detects the reflection light of the irradiation light reflected by the wall surface of the storage chamber or the stored material, can reduce such a chance that the storage material is arranged in the vicinity of the optical sensor 21, and thus, can reduce the factor of dispersion caused by the installation of the storage material in the vicinity of the optical sensor 21. Accordingly, the precision of estimation in the practical use state can be improved, and proper cooling corresponding to the storage state of the storage material in the refrigerator or output control is enabled.
