PURPOSE: To cause an interior part of a refrigerator to be seen to have a wide area and a deep depth by a method wherein brightness of each of the surfaces in the refrigerator and the rear surface of the refrigerator is made variable.

CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator has lighting fixtures 1a, 1b for use in illuminating an entire inner wall surface of a door of the refrigerator, a lighting fixture 2 for use in illuminating an entire floor surface within the refrigerator, a lighting fixture 3 for use in illuminating an entire ceiling surface within the refrigerator, a lighting fixture 4 for use in illuminating an entire deep wall surface within the refrigerator, lighting fixture 5a, 5b for use in illuminating an entire side wall within the refrigerator, a lighting fixture 6 for use in illuminating a rear surface of the refrigerator out of it, a power supply 15 for use in supplying electrical power to the lighting fixtures 1a, 1b, 2, 3, 4, 5a, 5b and 6 and a lighting control part 16 connected between the lighting fixture and the power supply part 15. When the door is released to open, a brightness ratio between a part comprising inner wall surfaces 8a, 8b of the door, the floor surface within the refrigerator, the ceiling surface 10 in the refrigerator, inner deep wall surface 11 of the refrigerator, and side surfaces 12a, 12b of the refrigerator, and the rear surface 13 of the refrigerator is more than 3:1 under a lighting light from the lighting fixture.
