PURPOSE: To provide the refuse treating machine for household capable of easily compressing the plastic refuse generated in the kitchens of homes without generating toxic gases.

CONSTITUTION: This refuse treating device has a container into which the plastic refuse is charged, a cap body 12 which is openably and closably disposed in the upper part of this container, a heater 13 and blast fan 14 which are disposed in this cap body, a shielding plate 15 which has a vent hole and is disposed in the boundary between the cap body and the container and a vertically movable press plate 16 which is disposed in the lower part of the container. The plastic refuse charged into the container is softened and compressed.
