Title:
REGENERATING AND REACTING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS54147173
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for regnerating and reacting activated carbon, the apparatus which shows excellent regenerating performance, and which is constituted of a reacting cylinder made of porous material having gas-permeability and installed in a heating furnace, and of a steam conduit pipe installed in the lower half of the reacting cylinder, the pipe having in its wall a number of small holes in obliquely downward direction.

CONSTITUTION: Slurry-like activated carbon to be treated is charged from a receiving tank 20 through a feeder 19 to a drying hopper 1, and is agitated by the turn of a gas-exhausting, stirring pipe 27. Hot exhaust gas formed by the combustion at burners 13W16 is sucked by an exhauster to a drying hood 8, where it is used for indirect-heating and drying the activated carbon to be treated. Drying exhaust gas and decomposed gas formed in the upper space of the hopper 1 is circulated 10, 10a by an exhauster 11 into a heating furnace 6, where it is burned completely in order to remove malodor. The dried activated carbon to be treated descends by its own weight to a reacting cylinder 2, where it moves downward while the adsorbed material being decomposed thermally. When it is heated to 850W900°C, the regeneration is promoted with steam ejected obliquely downward from a steam conduit pipe 3. The regenerated activated carbon is then cooled gradually in a cooler 4 and is discharged by constant quantities.
