Title:
REGENERATION OF DEACTIVATED HYDROGENATION CATALYST
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04244233
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily and completely regenerate deactivated metallic ruthenium catalyst carried on an aluminum oxide carrier to again enable, particularly, to perform stereospecific hydrogenation by treating with ultrasound.

CONSTITUTION: Deactivated hydrogenation catalyst carried on aluminum oxide carrier containing ruthenium as an active component is treated with ultrasound in a liquid medium. Ultrasound restores a structural form of the ruthenium- aluminum oxide catalyst with reduced activity to that at its production time. Thereby, the catalyst can be easily and completely regenerated to again enable, particularly, to perform stereospecific hydrogenation, e.g. a hydrogenation from α-pinene to cis-pinane. The treatment can be repeated in a sort time and periodically.
