Abstract:

To provide the subject method capable of efficiently regenerating a deteriorated extra heavy oil emulsion fuel and reusing the fuel in a thermal power station, etc., by adding a specific thickening agent to a prescribed deteriorated extra heavy oil emulsion fuel, adjusting the fuel to a fixed viscosity and subjecting the fuel to shearing treatment.

A deteriorated extra heavy oil emulsion fuel containing ≥3% coarse particles having ≥150μm particle diameter is mixed with one or more selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble natural polymer such as a polysaccharide derived from a microorganism, having 30,000 to 5,000,000 molecular weight, a water-soluble synthetic polymer such as a polyacrylic acid (derivative) having 30,000-5,000,000 molecular weight and a highly selling clay mineral, adjusted to 400-3,000cp(50°C) emulsion viscosity and then stirred at 1,000-60,000 s-1 shear rate by using a high-shear type stirring apparatus so that the content of coarse particles having ≥150μm particle diameter is made <3% to regenerate the deteriorated extra heavy oil emulsion fuel.
