Abstract:
PURPOSE: To generate proper electron beams for a free electron laser by applying ultraviolet rays from an undulator for generating high-intensity ultraviolet- ray light source toward an ultraviolet-ray photoelectric electrode, accelerating the electrons linearly from the photoelectric cathode, and sending them to the free electron laser. CONSTITUTION: A linear accelerator 3 increases to E3 the energy of electrons in beams from an electron injector with a cathode 1 for starting, and bending magnets 4 and 9 bend electrons with energy E3 toward an undulator 7. Ultraviolet-ray photons 20 are generated in the undulator 7 and start discharging photoelectrons from an ultraviolet-ray photoelectric cathode in the electron injector 8, when it is directed toward a photoelectric cathode. Electrons supplied from the injector 8 with an energy E2 are bent onto the center line of the linear accelerator 3 by a bending magnet 2, and a free electron laser 5 overlaps the beams of a relativistic electrons E4 and a storing laser radiation, thus generating a coherent radiation E6 via inductive magnetically damped radiation.
