Abstract:

To attain desired vehicle starting characteristics and generated power by controlling the operation of an electric machine.

This method includes an internal combustion engine 11, an automatic transmission 13, and an electric machine 14 which can be operated in an operating mode and a power generating mode. A satellite gear set 10 connects the engine 11, the transmission 13, and the electric machine 14 so as to operate. The electric machine 14 provides the satellite gear set 10 with reaction torque, and the torque is supplied into the input 37 of the transmission. Reaction torque energy is converted into electric energy and stored in a battery pack battery 69. The reaction torque is generated by controlling the power generating torque of the electric machine in combination with control of opening loop torque and closing loop speed which corresponds to parameters such as engine speed, electric machine rotor speed and transmission input speed, so that power is generated at the time of starting a vehicle.
