PURPOSE: To enable to exchange heat quickly by increasing the heat transferring surface of a heat pipe, by providing heat transfer fins in layer to the heat pipe and by improving the arrangement of fins, in a regenerator utilizing metallic hydride which is constituted by connecting a shell body containing metallic hydride to a heat exchanger by a plurality of heat pipes.
CONSTITUTION: Hydrogen filter tubes 4 which permeate hydrogen only, and heat pipes 5 as a heat transmitting medium are sealed in a cylindrical pressure shell 1, together with metallic hydride 3. At the time of accumulation of heat, highly heated heating medium is fed into a heat exchanger 7 from an inlet through a heating medium duct 9. The heat of a heating medium is taken into the pressure shell 1 through the heat pipes 5, and it is transferred to the metallic hydride 3 through heat transfer fins 6. The metallic hydride 3 releases hydrogen when it receives heat. At the time of radiation, to the contrary, the hydrogen stored outside is discharged to the pressure shell 1, and the heat generated when the hydrogen combines with the metallic hydride 3 is transferred to the heat pipes 5 through the heat transfer fines 6, and it is taken outside from an outlet through a heating medium duct 10.
