PURPOSE: To simplify the register operation and to shorten the register time by reading a corresponding segment pattern out of a memory means based on an input retrieval code and segmenting the corresponding picture from a medium.
CONSTITUTION: The segment patterns corresponding to plural transaction accounts are previously registered on a segment pattern memory part 9. For registration of segment patterns, a desired segment area of a slip containing each item code is painted out with the magic ink, etc. and then read by a reading part 1 together with the item code. Then said segment area is stored to a picture buffer 2 and registered on a segment pattern memory part 9 with operation of a segment pattern register button 8a. A segment pattern selecting part 10 selects the outputs a segment pattern corresponding to the transaction account designated by the part 9 and based on a transaction account code supplied with operation of an account designation button 4b.
