PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of mounting of a plate on a plate cylinder by such an arrangement wherein a movable table is caused to move by optical sensor signals so that standard thin lines come to a specified position, and new register marks are written down and the top and bottom edges of the plate are properly bended.
CONSTITUTION: The positions of standard thin lines m0, m1, such as register marks, etc. printed on a printing plate P are detected by optical sensors 15, 15 installed to a plate bender M2 and a movable table 7 is moved so that standard thin lines m0, m1 come to specified positions, and the printing plate P is fixed. Next, new marks m2, m2 to be used for registering on a press are written at the left and right edge of the printing plate P by register mark writing heads 16, 16 and a pin hole 17 which coincides with a standard position pin of a plate cylinder of a press is formed at a specified position and the top and bottom edges of the plate in the vertical direction of the press are bended. By this arrangement, the accuracy of mounting of the plate on the plate cylinder is improved and automatic correction of distortional register error becomes possible.
