PURPOSE: To calculate in a short time the data about a registration error having a small number of samples with the comparatively rough division of a screen, by making areas produced by the plural division of an effective screen part as approaching the circumferential part of the screen.
CONSTITUTION: An effective screen part is divided into plural regions so as to reduce the area of each divided region as approaching the circumferential part of the screen. An error signal ER of the horizontal and vertical shifts of the output signals R0 and B0 of the R and B tubes 3 and 2 to the output signal G' of a G tube 4, i.e., a reference image pickup tube is stored in the 1st memory of a control circuit 21. Then the interpolation data is formed on the basis of the data of the 1st memory written into the 2nd memory having a memory region extended in the vertical direction of the screen. The beam polarizing devices 22 and 23 are controlled in accordance with the data stored in the 2nd memory. Thus the registration is controlled for the tubes 2 and 3.
