Abstract:
To provide an artificial induction technology of immune tolerance to self or foreign antigens, which overcomes autoimmune diseases, transplantation related disorders, allergic reactions, immune rejection of therapeutic proteins, etc.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, a T cell epitope (Tregitope) was identified using a common autologous protein, such as the constant region of IgG, the Tregitope being capable of binding to and activating natural T regulatory cells (TReg) through the binding to a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecule. The selective involvement and activation of Treg through the use of Tregitope and Tregitope antigen fusions is therapeutically useful as a means of treating any disease or condition characterized by the presence of an unwanted immune response. If Tregitope modified Fc, which is modified to be incapable of binding to MHC and Treg, can be used as a vaccine delivery vector, a vaccine antigen is allowed to be efficiently targeted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
