Abstract:
The present invention provides cation exchange membrane reinforcing core material which is excellent in mechanical strength such as bending and the like, is capable of stably exhibiting electrolytic performance for a long period of time and can be woven without using temporary yarns, and a cation exchange membrane made of the reinforcing core material and an electrolytic cell. The reinforcing core material for the cation exchange membrane is characterized by being formed by a woven fabric comprising the following textures: warp and weft yarns are orderly and repeatedly provided with PTFE fibers and PET spun yarns that serve as reinforcing core material, the PET spun yarns comprise in the longitudinal direction at least one of a weft yarns PET broadening region and a weft PET narrowing region, the weft yarns PET broadening region is arranged in such a way that two PET multifilament yarns, used as weft yarns, existing between two nearest PTFE fibers used as weft yarns are arranged at an interval which is one third greater than distance between the two PTFE fibers in the longitudinal direction, and the PET yarn narrowing region is arranged in such a way that two PET multifilament yarns, used as weft yarns, existing between two nearest PTFE fibers used as weft yarns are arranged at an interval which is one third smaller than distance between the two PTFE fibers in the longitudinal direction.
