Abstract:

To provide a reinforced optical fiber cord with low transmission losses and with little eccentricity.

The reinforced optical fiber cord 10 is provided with an optical fiber 12 and a reinforced coating layer 14 made of FRTP. The optical fiber 12 is provided with an optical fiber main body 12a arranged in the center, and a sheath-formed buffer layer 12b at the outer periphery of the main body 12. Eccentricity δ between the center (Of) of the optical fiber 12 and the center (Oc) of the reinforced coating layer 14 is equal to or smaller than 12.5%. Eccentricity δ in this case is determined from the following formula. Eccentricity δ%=(deviated amount of the center (Of) of the optical fiber 12 from the center (Oc) of the reinforced layer 14)/(the size of the outer diameter of the reinforced coating layer 14)×100.
