PURPOSE: To reinforce a soft ground in accordance with the characteristics thereof, by arranging PC steel members to get a suspended condition on a roadbed to conduct a tension and adjusting the quantity of steel members and the tensile strength thereof.
CONSTITUTION: Foundations 10 at both ends of the roadbed 1 on a soft ground and required intermediate foundations 11 are constructed respectively. And PC steel members 2 are suspended thereon to form catenaries between respective foundations 10, 11. Next, precast concrete slabs 3 are fitted to the PC steel members 2 for reincorcement to prevent the local deformation. Then, a base course 4 is formed on the precast concrete slab 3. And joint concrete 7 and cast-in-place concrete 8 are placed. The weight on the base course is converted to the tension of PC steel member by conduction of the tension to the PC steel member and the force acting on the ground is almost removed.
