Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject material, consisting of a molecular oriented substance of a specific ultrahigh-molecular weight ethylene.alpha-olefin copolymer without deterioration in transmission characteristics due to no water absorbability and excellent in creep properties and impact resistance. CONSTITUTION:The objective material consisting of a molecular oriented substance of an ultrahigh-molecular weight ethylene.alpha-olefin copolymer having >=5dl/g intrinsic viscosity [eta] and 0.1-20 content of >=3C alpha-olefin based on 1000 number of carbon atoms. The above-mentioned molecular oriented substance is obtained by blending, e.g., an ultrahigh-molecular weight ethylene.alpha-olefin copolymer prepared by slurry polymerization using a Ziegler-based catalyst with a diluent, such as n-nonane, melt kneading the resultant mixture, melt extrusion molding the obtained spinning solution and then drawing the resultant undrawn molded body so as to apply molecular orientation to at least one direction thereof.
