Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform the reinforcing work at high speed and to make a reinforcing device small-sized and simple by arranging reinforcing substrates having a protective cover so that their adhesive layers face each other and pressing them to each other to join them into one body after a welded connection part of an optical fiber is inserted between adhesive layers.

CONSTITUTION: Two substrates 9 are fixed to a protective cover 12 by an adhesive so that adhesive layers 10 face each other. The protective cover 12 has an aperture part 13 in one side, and the aperture part 13 is provided with hooks 14 and 15, and hooks 14 and 15 are meshed with each other when the protective cover 12 is closed. The part of an optical fiber 1 connected by welding and parts of coating layers 2 and 2 in both sides are inserted from the aperture part 13 while applying a certain tension to the optical fiber, and the protective cover 12 is closed in this state, and it is press-fitted to a preliminarily prepared press- fitting tool. Thus, a pressure-sensitive adhesive displays the adhesive strength by the press-fitting effect to fix the welded connection part in a reinforcing member 8, and the welded connection part is reinforced by the protective cover 12.
