Abstract:

To provide a lightweight and robust reinforcing structure of a front pillar that reduces a moment generated in the front pillar by an input from the front.

A front pillar reinforcement 12 is structured such that its shape gradually changes in such a manner that the center position of the figure is located at C2 shown in Fig.3(A) in a section 12A which is a partial section thereof in the longitudinal direction. That is, a protruding part 12B which is outwardly convex upward of a vehicle body and in the vehicle width direction is made to be a protruding part 12C which is inwardly convex downward of the vehicle body and in the vehicle width direction in the section 12A. Thereby, the center position of the figure of a front pillar 10 is located at C1 shown in Fig.3(B) in other sections excluding the section 12A. Meanwhile, the center position of the figure is located at C2 in the section 12A. The front pillar 10 is shaped such that its center position of the figure approaches a line segment Y by a distance L between C1 and C2 with respect to the line segment Y connecting a vehicle body front end YF and a vehicle body rear end YR of the front pillar reinforcement 12.
