Abstract:

To provide a relay drive circuit for driving a relay with reduced energy and cut off the relay upon a fault or defect in its circuit elements.

A relay 1 shiftable to its ON or OFF state is driven with less current. The relay 1 is adapted to come into the OFF state if an element in a relay drive circuit has a defects. In a first period of one cycle, a switching transistor 6 is cut off and a switching transistor 7 is made to cause a power source 2 to carry a current to the relay 1 and thus to partially charge a capacitor 3. In a second period of the cycle, on the other hand, the transistor 6 is made conductive and the transistor 7 is cut off to discharge the capacitor 3 to cause the capacitor 3 to carry current to the relay 1.
