PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which shows only negligible increase in adhesive strength after bonding and can be peeled off leaving no residue on the adherend, prepared by adding a specified ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid deriv. to a solution of acrylic copolymer.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. (e.g. a cpd. of the formula) is obtained by adding phosphonic acid, sulfonic acid or sulfuric acid (or alkali metal salt thereof) to an ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid deriv. The adhesive compsn. is prepared by addin 0.1W10wt% said compd. to an organic solvent solution of an acrylic copolymer obtained by solution polymerization of (A) 40W99wt% (meth)acrylic ester wth a 4W12C alkyl group (e.g. butyl acrylate), (B) 1W20wt% ethylenically unsatd. monomer with an least one functional group and (C) 0W59wt% ethylenically unsatd. monomer other than above (e.g. methyl acrylate).
