Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the galling or bending of an ejector pin by releasing an aluminum wheel cast from a lower die while the cast is held by a horizontal die and elevated, releasing the cast from an upper die lowering the cast, and opening the horizontal die in the horizontal direction for releasing.
CONSTITUTION: When an aluminum wheel cast 17 is not tilted during the casting even when the pressure of the poured molten metal is applied thereto because a horizontal die 9 is held by back-up rings 6, 3. An upper die 5 and the horizontal die 9 are elevated to release the cast from a lower die 2 while the cast 17 is held by the horizontal die 9. In the elevation of the die 9, a movable main die 4 and an ejector plate 18 or the like are also elevated. The horizontal die 9 is lowered with respect to the upper die 5 to release the cast 17 from the upper die 5 while the cast 17 is held at the top dead center of the movable stroke. A horizontal die opening/closing cylinder 10 is operated to open the horizontal die 9 to take out the cast 17 out of the die. Because the cast 17 is held by the horizontal die 9, the load exerted on the ejector pin can be reduced, and galling or bending of the ejector pin can be prevented.
