Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relief device used in an optical communication system that divides an optical transmission path between termination devices into a plurality of relief object sections and relieves failure at a relief object section by switching to a radio transmission path by two relief devices facing at the relief object section.SOLUTION: A relief device for relieving a first relief object section comprises: determination means for determining whether a device facing at optical transmission path at an opposite side of the first relief object section is a relief device at a time of switching to a radio transmission path; radio transmission means for converting first modulation light received from the optical transmission path into an electric signal, and for using second modulation light modulated with a sine wave received from the optical transmission path in order to perform frequency conversion of the electric signal; and radio receiving means for converting the radio signal received from the facing relief device into the first modulation light and for outputting it to the optical transmission path. When the determination means determines the facing device is a relief device, the relief device generates the second modulation light to output it to the optical transmission path.
