To provide a relief valve capable of sufficiently suppressing generation of abnormal noise.
The relief valve comprises a retainer 11 provided to contact a back side of a poppet 5 in a sleeve 3 for holding one end side of a spring 6 and guided by an inner peripheral surface 3b of the sleeve 3 to freely move forward/backward to the axial direction of the sleeve 3, and a retainer 12 provided in the sleeve 3 for holding and fixing the other end side of the spring 6. As the spring 6 is held by the retainers 11, 12, the retainer 11 is energized by the spring 6 and guided by the inner peripheral surface 3b of the sleeve 3 to stably move forward/backward to the axial direction, even falling, etc., happen to an attitude of the spring 6 itself. Forward/backward movements of the poppet 5 energized by the spring 6 via the usually-contacting retainer 11 is stabilized in the axial direction. Vibration in the radial direction is not generated at the time of opening the valve, etc., and the generation of the abnormal noise can be sufficiently suppressed.
