To provide a relief valve which can damp sound and vibration caused when a member constituting the relief valve abuts on the other members in operation.
The relief valve includes: a valve body 2 having a first port 11 and a second port 12; a sleeve 4 which is received in the valve body 2 and has an inlet port 7 communicating with the first port 11 and a discharge port 8 communicating with the second port 12; a valve 5 which is received in the sleeve 4 and prohibits the communication between the inlet port 7 and the discharge port 8 when the valve is moved to the inlet port 7 side while permitting the communication between the inlet port 7 and the discharge port 8 when the valve is moved to the side opposite to the inlet port 7; an energizing member 6 for energizing the valve 5 to the inlet port 7 side; a valve position changing mechanism 13 for changing the relative position of the valve body 2 to the sleeve 4 and to the valve 5; and a plug 3 which is supported and fixed to the valve body 2 through an elastic member 16 and abuts on the end 4b of the sleeve 4 when the sleeve 4 moves to the sliding end point opposite to the inlet port 7.
