PURPOSE: To obtain a remedy exhibiting anti-inflammatory action and effective to arthritis, etc., by using a water-soluble magnesium salt as a main component.
CONSTITUTION: The objective remedy contains a water-soluble magnesium salt, e.g. inorganic acid salt such as magnesium chloride or magnesium sulfate or organic acid salt such as magnesium gluconate or magnesium lactate. A slowly releasing agent having controllable releasing rate of magnesium ion independent to pH can be produced by coating a water-soluble magnesium salt with a pH-independent substance (e.g. hydrocarbon such as paraffin or hardened oil such as hydrogenated vegetable oil). The preparation is useful for the remedy of magnesium deficiency such as arthritis caused by the deposition of calcium pyrophosphate. It is administered at a rate of 0.5W10g, preferably 1W4g of the water-soluble magnesium salt daily in one or two divided doses.
