Abstract:
PURPOSE: A remedy for peptic ulcer comprising a specified carbostyril derivative or its salt as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A remedy for peptic ulcer comprising a carbostyril derivative of formula (R1 and R2 are hydrogen or lower alkyl; R3 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or lower alkanoyl; R4 and R5 are hydrogen, lower alkenyl, cycloalkyl, etc,; the dotted line between the 3- and 4-positions of the carbostyril nucleus indicates single or double bond) or its salt as an active constituent. The compound well known as an intermediate for synthesizing broncho-dilators has now been found to have gastric juice and pepsin secreto-inhibitory actions. The daily dose is preferably about 0.1W50mg/kg of the constituent.
