PURPOSE: The titled remedy containing a crude drug extract essence having collagenase inhibitory action as an essential ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: A remedy for periodontosis containing ≥0.05wt% concentrated essence of a rude drug extract essence having collagenase inhibitory action, e.g. Shizandrae Fructus, Gambir, Gardenia, Rubus coreanus Miq., Ephedra, Geranium herb, Areca nut, Rhubarb, Zingiber officinale Roscoe, Cinnamon bark, ginseng, Bearberry leaves, Evodiae Fructus, Polyporus, Dioscorea root, Senega root, Cork tree bark and jujube as an active ingredient. Water or water-miscible organic solvents, e.g. methanol, ethanol, acetone, etc., or mixtures of water with such organic solvents, etc., are used as an extraction solvent. A germicide, e.g. chlorhexidine, etc., antibiotic substance, e.g. ampicillin, etc., or antiinflammatory agent, e.g. indomethancin, etc., may be blended, if desired, to further enhance the effect of the remedy. The dosage form may be anyone of solution, solid agent and semisolid agent.
