PURPOSE: A remedy for renopathy, containing an aminobenzoic acid derivative or a salt thereof as an active constituent, having improved inhibitory action on urinary protein secretion with very low toxicity, administrable for a long period, and useful for renal insufficiency, glomerulonephritis, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A remedy for renopathy containing an aminobenzoic acid derivative of the formula (R is sugar) or a salt thereof as an active constituent. Particularly, R is preferably a monosaccharide, e.g. arabinoside, xyloside or glucoside. Na salt is preferred for the salt. The compound of the formula is found to have inhibitory effect on hypertrophy of glomerular basement membrane, inhibitory action on urinary protein secretion and very low toxicity and to be a safe remedy for renopathy. Thus, the above-mentioned remedy is a very safe drug without an antimicrobial activity nor danger of teratogenicity, allergic reaction, etc.
