Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine useful for treating closed apnea, neutral apnea following sleep and their combined apnea, comprising an azapirone derivative compound as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: This therapeutic agent comprises a compound of formula I or formula II [Z is a group of formula III, formula IV, formula V, etc., (a dotted line and a solid line are each a single bond or a double bond; A is O, CH2 , CH=CH, etc.)] or its acid addition salt as an active ingredient. The agent can be prepared into a parenteral, oral or intrarectal administration form by a conventional method. A dose is 20-60mg per adult and administered in sleeping. Gepirone may be cited as the compound of formula I and MDL72832 as the compound of formula II. Anxiety, depression, fatigue, feebleness, excitation, anger, hostility, etc., as symptoms caused by sleep apnea can be relaxed.
