Title:
REMELTING AND HARDENING METHOD OF CAM SHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60258423
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the dripping of melt to a minimum and to prevent the deformation of the cam profile to a maximum by remelting and hardening the cam part successively from the cam top part to one and the other cam lift part.

CONSTITUTION: In a cam part 1 of a cast cam shaft, plasma arc 12 of a plasma torch 11 is struck on a cam top part 2 which is directed vertically upward, the cam shaft is rotated counterclockwise in the direction as shown by the arrow (a), and the part from the cam top part 2 to a cam lift part 3 on one side is remelted 6. Then the remelting is stopped temporarily, and the cam top part 2 is again directed vertically upward. The cam shaft is subsequently rotated clockwise in the direction as shown by the arrow (b), and the part from the cam top part 2 to the cam lift part 4 on the other side is remelted 7 in the same way as above-mentioned. In this case, an overlap 8 of remelt is formed on the cam top part 2, and the circular part 5 of the cam base is not remelted.
