PURPOSE: To perform remote control even with a remote controller which emits a signal different from that of the remote controller of electronic equipment by providing the remote controller which outputs a command corresponding to a setting switch with a signal from a decoder.
CONSTITUTION: The setting mode of the remote control device is cancelled by operating all the remote control switches of the remote controller 2 and operating a setting apparatus 4 after storing signals corresponding to those switches into a memory part 5. After that, when the remote controller 2 is operated, for example, a power-on operation, the signal of power-on is emitted in an infrared ray, and the signal of infrared ray is emitted from an infrared ray receiving part 3. At this time, a reception signal stored in the memory part 5 is read out sequentially, and the reception signal is compared with a read out signal at a decoder part 6, and a coincident signal is decoded to the signal identifiable to which setting switch of the setting apparatus 4 it is conformed, and is outputted to a controller part 7.
