PURPOSE: To obtain a remote control device which is easy to handle with a large practical effect, by attaching different displays for a device to be controlled on both surface of a display panel and selecting the upper surface or the rear surface of the display panel in response to the purpose of application.

CONSTITUTION: A display panel 5 contains through holes 6 through which the push-buttons of a signal transmitter 1 are inserted. At the same time, a display 7T for control of a TV picture receiver is set as shown by A on the upper surface of the panel 5 and at the place near the hole 6. While a display 7V for control of a video tape recorder is set as shown by B on the rear surface of the panel 5. Thus the upper surface of the panel 5 is used when the transmitter 1 is used for the remote control of the TV picture tube. Therefore only the display 7T is shown on the panel 5, and this facilitates an easy operation of the push-button. While the rear side of the panel 5 is used when the transmitter 1 is used for a video tape recorder. Thus only the display 7V is shown on the panel 5 to facilitate an easy operation.
