To provide a remote control system and a remote control method, capable of ensuring an optimum responsiveness while suppressing a power consumption on a mobile device side.
On a vehicle side, when receiving a control request signal Scont from a mobile device, the remote control system calculates a processing completion time Tfin required for controlling on the vehicle side according to the signal, and wirelessly transmits a processing completion time response signal Stime including the results of the calculation. On a mobile device side, the remote control system can accurately acquire a timing at which a result response signal Sres including the processing completion time Tfin on the vehicle side, i.e., the information on the results of the execution of the controls on the vehicle side is transmitted. On the mobile device side, the remote control system maintains an electricity-saved state until the processing completion time Tfin is elapsed. Each time a remote control is performed by the operation of a mobile device, the processing completion time Tfin on which the state of the vehicle side at each time is reflected is calculated. On the mobile device side, a sleep time Ts is suitably set based on the processing completion time Tfin.
