To shorten a time required for controlling in an irradiation direction of a spot light body even if a distance between a remote control and the spot light body is small.
In this spot light, when four infrared-ray receiving element blocks 2a, which are provided in such a manner that the respective detection areas are partly overlaid at the front face of the spot light body 1, detect a remote control signal from a remote control 6, the irradiation direction of the spot light body 1 is controlled in such a manner that substantially the center in the overlapped range of the detection areas of the four infrared-ray receiving element blocks 2, is directed to the remote control 6. Distance measuring devices for measuring a distance L between the spot light body 1 and the remote control 6 are provided in the spot light body 1 and the remote control 6, respectively, in such a manner as to transmit or receive supersonic waves and infrared rays and determine the distance L based on a time required for the transmission and receiving. There is provided a distance data transmitter for transmitting the distance L measured by the distance measuring devices to the remote control 6. Consequently, the shorter the distance L, the smaller the output of the remote control signal from the remote control 6.
