The remote control for the water heater comprises a voice output means 2, an operating switch group 5 and a display part 7 for displaying the operating state and the like of the water heater 9. The remote control further comprises a voice guidance sound volume setting means 10 capable of setting sound volume further higher than highest sound volume that can be normally set when a special operation is performed in a mode for setting sound volume of voice guidance. Normally, since the sound volume is not turned up to the preset sound volume or higher, sound volume of voice guidance is neither too high nor troublesome, thereby improving usability, while the sound volume of voice guidance can be turned up higher than normal for those who want voice guidance with a louder sound such as the aged or hearing-impaired persons only by performing the special operation. The remote control can thereby used without anxiety.
